Description and features of growing cucumbers Shchedryk F1

Content

The well-known selection and seed-growing company "Gavrish" has created a universal high-yielding hybrid cucumber variety - Shchedrik F1. These greens are grown both for the family table and for sale, in massive quantities, and, moreover, have excellent taste. Is it any surprise that the hybrid quickly took the lead in the seed market.

Features of the variety

The bushes of these plants are vigorous, have many leaves of medium size, moderate climbing. Flowering female type, fruit setting - parthenocarpic (not requiring pollination), 12-15 cucumbers are laid in the leaf axil. Fruiting occurs on the 47th day after germination.

Cucumbers varieties Shchedryk

It is recommended to grow in greenhouses, permissible - and in open ground. At least 12 kg of cucumbers of this variety are harvested from each planting meter, from one bush - 5-7 kg.

Description of cucumbers:

  • fruit length 10-12 cm, diameter 3.5 cm;
  • cucumber mass - up to 100 g;
  • the shape is correct, cylindrical;
  • color - dark green with small light stripes;
  • the surface is lumpy, on each of the protrusions there is a thorn of a light cream shade;
  • the skin is thin, delicate, fragrant;
  • the pulp is dense.

These cucumbers can be stored for quite a long time, providing themselves with fresh fruits in the fall. An excellent variety for growing for sale - a plant that is not too whimsical to care for gives a bountiful harvest, and during transportation and in a warehouse, the fruits do not lose their taste and presentation for a long time.

Growing

It is allowed to plant both seeds and seedlings. For cold regions, the last method is recommended.

What is important to observe when growing cucumbers Shchedryk F1:

  1. The place for the garden should be well lit.
  2. The absence of drafts is important.
  3. The soil should be medium loamy, breathable.
  4. It is advisable to prepare the bed in the fall and apply all the necessary fertilizers at once.
  5. Proper watering is important - warm water in the morning and evening from a watering can, regularly and not too abundantly. It is necessary to take into account the weather conditions: in the dry season, moisten more abundantly, in the rainy season, more sparingly. During the fruiting period, the amount of water is increased.
  6. To make it easier for air to penetrate the roots, the aisle should be regularly loosened. Do not touch the ground under the stem, because the root system of cucumbers is not the strongest.
  7. It is worth getting rid of weeds in time so that they do not take away nutrients.
  8. Throughout the entire period, organic and inorganic fertilizers must be applied.
  9. Twice a season, it is required to treat the plantings with fungicides to protect against infections.
  10. Must do garter bushes on a trellis - the harvest will be larger, the fruits will be harvested - it is more convenient, as well as caring for the plant.

Important! Cucumbers Shchedryk grow well after beets, tomatoes, onions, potatoes. Ground after pumpkin, carrot, cabbage is not suitable.

Seed preparation and sowing

Typically, quality branded seeds do not require disinfection, calibration or stimulation.

If the planting material is collected from your site, raw materials, or purchased on the market, it is worth carrying out all the procedures:

  1. To select the most viable, seeds are poured with a liter of water from 1 tbsp. l. salt. Pop-up - delete.
  2. For disinfection, the remaining material is poured with a solution of potassium permanganate for 20 minutes, then dried.
  3. Finally, for hardening and stratification purposes, future plantings are placed on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator for 3 days.
  4. To increase the likelihood of germination, the seeds are soaked for 20 minutes in a growth promoter, and then left in a warm place on a wet cloth until the first shoots are formed.

Landing

The material is buried in the nutrient soil by 2 cm with sufficiently large (at least 10 cm) intervals, since the seedlings cannot stand picking. For the same reason, if the cucumbers are placed immediately on the garden bed, the seeds are dipped into the prepared holes. "Gavrish" recommends a 50x50 cm landing pattern.

Cucumber fruit

The plantings are covered with foil and placed in heat (a suitable temperature is 28 ° C).

Preparation and planting of seedlings

When sprouts appear, the covering material is removed, and the containers are placed in a well-lit place.

If the seedlings are stretched, this, most often, is a sign of a lack of lighting - you need to turn on phytolamps or move the pots closer to the window. Also, it is not uncommon for the seedlings to grow too vigorously - to slow down, they put it in a cooler room at night.

Seedlings are ready for planting in 3-4 weeks. About a week before this period, it needs to be hardened (taken out into the air).

Top dressing

How to fertilize cucumbers correctly:

  1. During the active formation of bushes, it is important to add nitrogen-containing fertilizers, for example, sprinkle the ground with sifted ash (without getting on the leaves) or pour a solution of bird droppings (0.5 liters per 10 liters of water).
  2. During flowering, mineral fertilizers are needed, which include ammonium and potassium nitrate (25 g each) and superphosphate (40 g) per 10 liters of water.
  3. When the plants bear fruit, you need fertilizer from urea (50 g), potassium nitrate (25 g) per 10 liters of water.
  4. To prolong fruiting, it is worth making a root top dressing with a solution of 15 g of urea per 10 liters of water - then it will be possible to harvest until the very autumn frosts.

Important! When growing Shchedryk cucumbers in a greenhouse, it must be regularly ventilated every day, otherwise, due to the heat, many barren flowers will appear.

Reviews

Growing this variety of cucumbers brings good yields with little labor, because the plant is quite unpretentious. Many who plant the Shchedryk variety on their plots leave only positive feedback and are very happy with the choice:

  1. A good harvest can be obtained even in not very favorable climatic conditions and on poorly suitable soils (if the garden bed is properly prepared). For example, in hot climates, cucumber bushes usually burn out quickly, while the plant disappears. After the foliage dries up, Shchedryk has new side shoots that bear fruit perfectly, and if they burn out again, new shoots appear to replace them. So the plant continues to yield until the first frost.
  2. Many gardeners prefer this cucumber variety because it is suitable for all growing conditions (outdoor or greenhouse), does not require pollination and is easy to care for. At the same time, you can always get a bountiful, generous harvest.
  3. Shchedryk's taste is especially often praised. Cucumbers are always sweet, without bitterness, aromatic, crunchy.
  4. Everyone who grows this variety is advised to harvest on time, preferably every day - then new fruits grow faster and more cucumbers are obtained from each bush per season. But, if they did not manage to remove the ripe cucumbers in time, then they only increase, but there are no coarse seeds in them, and the taste is not lost.

There are practically no disadvantages of this variety. These include only those that are characteristic of all types of cucumbers:

  • they are afraid of drafts, so you need to choose calm places, and carefully ventilate in greenhouses;
  • be sure to choose sunny beds;
  • they are afraid of frost - in case of unstable weather, it is necessary to create greenhouse conditions, covering the crops with a film, and in cold regions it is better to grow in greenhouses;
  • at temperatures below 15 ° C do not bear fruit and develop poorly.

Cultivation of the Shchedrik F1 hybrid brings good yields with little effort. Many who plant a variety on their plots leave only positive reviews and are very happy with the choice.
