Characteristics and description of the hybrid

The originator of the hybrid is the domestic agricultural company SeDeK (Moscow). It was included in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation in 2007 and is recommended for growing in open or protected ground throughout the country.

Description of the variety:

• The hybrid is early maturing, the period of marketable fruit ripeness occurs 6-7 weeks after the shoots appear. With greenhouse cultivation, two turns are possible - spring-summer and summer-autumn.
• The hybrid is parthenocarpic, forming only female flowers that do not require pollination under any conditions.
• It is distinguished by excellent resistance to typical diseases of the culture, it is rarely attacked by aphids or spider mites, regardless of growing conditions.
• It tolerates sudden cold snaps, drought, fully develops with a lack of illumination. Zealous cucumber lovers often grow it at home.
• Forms a powerful, medium-sized liana that requires abundant watering.
• Side shoots advisable pinch, after that the number of flowers and ovaries increases sharply.
• The average number of fruits ripening at the same time on a whip is 5-6 pieces. The small number is due to their size.
• Outdoor yield - 5 kg / m², in the greenhouse - 6 kg / m².
• Purpose - salad, this hybrid is not suitable for canning.

The fruits of the Emerald Stream are very interesting, and their appearance justifies the name. The length of the cylindrical cucumbers recommended for picking is 20-25 cm. The skin is thin, dense, green-emerald green, very dark, almost black in the area of ​​the stalk. Average weight - 150-200 g.

The fruits of the Emerald Stream have a maximum length of about 50 cm. However, this size causes obvious damage to the quality: the skin turns yellow, the flesh dries up, lignifies.

Features of agricultural technology

The Emerald Stream is grown by seedlings, but in the North Caucasus and the Lower Volga, seeds are sown directly into open ground.

Sowing seeds, growing and caring for seedlings is carried out according to standard technology.

For the April planting, seedlings of 30 days of age (from seedlings) are suitable. A healthy seedling has a strong stem, its height is 20-25 cm. There are 4 or 5 true leaves, their size is within 15-18 cm, the color is saturated, uniform.

At later dates (second half of April - May), three-week-old plants can be planted, if by this time they have formed 2-3 true leaves with a diameter of about 15 cm.

Very young seedlings with one real leaf are also successfully planted. But they do it already in June.

The soil requirements for the hybrid are the same as for other varieties.The beds on the north side are protected with tall garden plants - corn or curly beans, cowpea.

Water the plantings in the evening. Warm water is poured so that the soil is moistened, but without moisture stagnation.

The emerald stream tolerates the absence of moisture well, however, during the next watering, water is supplied in portions so that a sharp drop in soil moisture does not provoke the development of root rot, to which the hybrid has increased sensitivity.

A bush is formed according to a single-stem scheme, adopted for parthenocarpic hybrids:

• after regrowth of the 6th leaf, all lower stepsons, antennae, flowers are cut;
• subsequent ovaries are normalized, starting from one in each sinus, adding one piece every 2-3 leaves.

Often summer residents do not pay attention to axillary shoots, removing only the lower ones that clutter up the space between the bushes. To maintain high yields and long-term fruiting, in this case, cucumbers are removed that have grown to 12-15 cm.

Garter for trellis spend two weeks after transplanting. Often the hybrid is planted next to natural supports, using a medium-sized liana as an element of the decor of the suburban area.

They are fed three times a season, giving preference to natural remedies - infusions of onion husks, chicken droppings.
