How to properly prepare the soil and plant parsley so that it sprouts quickly?

Content

For good growth, summer residents should feed the parsley several times during the growing season. For the first time, fertilizers are applied to the soil even before planting. To sprout greenery faster, it is also important to pre-treat the seeds and follow the sowing technology. For feeding, organic fertilizers, mineral complexes, and growth stimulants are used.

How many days does parsley rise?

Parsley is a tug-like greenery, the first shoots in the garden appear only 2-3 weeks after sowing. This is due to the fact that the seeds of the crop are covered with a film of essential oils, which does not break down so quickly in the ground. The shell prevents moisture from entering the seed, which causes a delay in growth processes. However, you can still plant parsley so that it sprouts quickly. To do this, you need to properly prepare the seeds and soil.

Planting material is divided into classes. The germination capacity of first-class seeds is 60–70%, for second-class seeds - 30–40%.

For parsley to grow well, you need fertile soil with a sufficient mineral content and an acidity of 6.5–7 pH. The highest rates are achieved on sandy soil and light loam. It is better not to plant a crop in an area with a close occurrence of groundwater.

Dried soil

Why doesn't the greens come up?

If parsley shoots did not appear even 20-25 days after sowing, it is time for summer residents to start worrying.

The most common reasons why greens do not germinate:

  • poor quality or old seeds;
  • insufficiently heated soil;
  • prolonged cold snap;
  • too dry land;
  • poor soil that has not been fertilized;
  • hard crust on the soil surface.

Each of these causes can be easily eliminated. Before planting, it is imperative to check the expiration date of the seeds: their germination capacity lasts no longer than 2-3 years. It is better to purchase planting material in a safe place (garden center, specialized store).

To speed up the germination of parsley in cold weather, use a non-woven covering material or film and sprinkle with warm water. At the same time, the shelter will not allow a hard crust to form on the surface and prevent weeds from growing.

It is necessary to monitor the level of moisture in the soil. The ground should always remain slightly damp.

If the bed has not been fertilized in advance, it is necessary to fertilize with mineral fertilizers. For this purpose, superphosphate (30 g per 1 sq. M), potassium salt (20 g per 1 sq. M), ammonium nitrate (10 g per 1 sq. M) are used. The granules are scattered over the surface of the soil, and then irrigated.

Preparing a bed for sowing parsley

Preparing the beds before planting

Proper soil preparation will help to achieve rapid seed germination. A bed for greenery is broken in a well-lit place with protection from drafts. Cucumbers, tomatoes and onions are considered ideal precursors for parsley.

Preparation should be started in the fall. The earth is dug up, at the same time bringing in humus (4–5 kg per 1 sq. M).

In the event that the previous crops were abundantly fed with organic fertilizers, it is not necessary to add humus - the soil is only dug up and cleaned of plant residues. In the spring, it is necessary to fertilize the garden bed with mineral mixtures containing nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus (add ammonium nitrate, urea, potassium salt, superphosphate in a dosage of 20-25 g per 1 sq. M).

How to sprout parsley quickly?

Regardless of the timing of the ripening of the variety, shoots of any parsley appear at about the same time. There are some tricks to speed up this process. Seeds can be soaked in various compositions or germinated at home - and only then sown in the garden. This treatment allows you to get seedlings earlier in 5-10 days, if the culture is provided with optimal growing conditions and the necessary care.

How to soak seeds before sowing?

In order to get quick shoots, you can pre-soak the seeds. For this purpose, liquids of different composition are used.

  • Water. The easiest option is to soak the seed in warm water before planting. This is done in the evening, and sowing is done in the morning.
  • Vodka. The folk remedy perfectly dissolves the seed coat due to its high alcohol content. You need to moisten a napkin with vodka, in which the seeds are then wrapped, kept for 15–20 minutes, and then washed and dried. After that, you can start sowing.
  • Milk. You can get seedlings faster if you soak the seeds in milk. The procedure is carried out 30 minutes before planting. Such processing allows you to get juicy and strong shoots.
  • Growth stimulant solution. You can use "Epin", "Zircon", "Potassium humate". It is necessary to prepare the solution in strict accordance with the instructions. Stimulants are used to grow greenery, but there are other benefits. After such treatment of seeds, plants will hurt less, grow roots faster, and endure stress more easily.

Before soaking the seeds, they are sorted out, removing any dried, damaged or covered with mold. The grooves should be watered with warm water before planting.

It is not necessary to set aside a separate bed in the open field for parsley. Greens can be planted around the perimeter of potato plantings or between tomatoes.

Parsley seeds

Seed germination technology

Before sowing seeds in the garden, you can germinate them. This must be done correctly.

It is not necessary to calibrate the seeds before germination: spoiled planting material cannot germinate in any case.

Previously, the seeds are soaked for half an hour in a weak solution of potassium permanganate, and then wrapped in a damp cotton cloth, placed on a saucer and covered with a plastic wrap on top, which will prevent the matter from drying out.

Periodically you need to check if roots have appeared. As soon as this happens, you should immediately start sowing. Sprouted seeds are planted carefully, laying on their side so as not to break off the emerging "tails". After planting, the plant will orient itself and direct the root into the ground, and the future shoot up.

The germination process takes 4–6 days. The higher the room temperature, the faster the seeds hatch.

Ammonium nitrate

Feeding weak seedlings

If the greens have sprung up for a long time and grows poorly, it is necessary to fertilize after the appearance of the second leaf. During this period, parsley needs nitrogen fertilization. It is best to use ammonium nitrate (1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water). Some also use ammonia (1 tbsp. L. Per 10 liters of water). Plants should be fertilized by watering at the root.

After 14 days, you can treat the planting of greenery with a solution of hydrogen peroxide (1 tbsp. L. Per 1 l of water). The solution is used for root and foliar feeding. When watering at the root, peroxide saturates the soil with oxygen, promotes root development, and when spraying serves to prevent diseases. These measures are enough for the greens to gain strength.

The successful cultivation of parsley starts with proper preparation for sowing. Details such as soaking the seeds, applying fertilizers, maintaining an optimal soil moisture level, and using covering materials immediately after planting should not be overlooked. Only the correct agricultural technique can ensure the full development of culture.
