What is green soap for and how to use it for plant protection?

Content

"Green soap" for plants is a contact action insecticide that helps to destroy the most common plant pests (aphids, thrips, ticks, leafhoppers and many others) in a few hours. It is used both for combating insects that have already appeared, and for prevention. Also, soap is often used in combination with other insecticides so that the composition adheres securely to the green part of the plant.

Liquid green soap

Composition and purpose

The name "Green Soap" refers to various products that are produced in liquid form. The word "green" emphasizes that the preparation contains only natural ingredients that allow you to get rid of pests of vegetables, flowers and other plants:

  • ticks;
  • mealybug;
  • scabbards;
  • whitefly;
  • thrips;
  • spider mite;
  • aphids;
  • earwigs;
  • penny slobber, etc.

Despite its name, this drug is not literal soap. However, it has a soapy consistency due to the presence of organic potassium salts in the mixture. Along with them, the composition contains natural animal (lamb, beef) and vegetable (sunflower, soybean oil) fats. The main component of the product (by weight) is water.

Similar preparations are used to protect vegetable crops, fruit trees and other plants:

  • raspberries;
  • gooseberry;
  • apple trees;
  • pears;
  • strawberries;
  • potatoes;
  • Luke;
  • garlic;
  • tomatoes;
  • cucumbers;
  • garden flowers and herbs;
  • indoor plants.

Since the composition of the product is exclusively natural, it can be used to protect almost all plants. The universal effect of Green Soap is explained by the fact that the drug destroys the hard chitinous cover of pests. After that, they become very vulnerable (to birds and other insects), and also lose the ability to move, breathe and feed. As a result, the death of the colony occurs within a few hours after treatment.

Instructions for use and consumption rates

Plants can be treated both at the first signs of damage and for prevention - in accordance with the dosages presented in the table. Spraying with a soap solution is allowed at any time, including during flowering. However, it is not worth pouring liquid on the ovary - the drops should not be in the flowers, but on the green part.

Instructions for using the drug are simple:

  1. The product is diluted in a small amount of water.
  2. Then diluted with 10 liters of pre-settled water at room temperature.
  3. Pour into a spray bottle and spray the green part of the plant.

Also, "Green Soap" can be used in a mixture with other preparations - in this case, first prepare a working solution, and then add soap in the amount of 50-100 g per 10 liters of water.

Dosages of funds for different cases are as follows:

PestConcentration, g / 10 l of water
aphids, pennitsa slobber and spider mites200
thrips100
leafhopper, scale insect and earwig300

In combination with other insecticides, fungicides and folk remedies, the concentration of the soap is as follows:

CombinationConcentration of green soap, g / 10 l
with fungicides and insecticides100
with broth50-70
with infusion50-100

Some sources indicate that if soap is used as an independent product, its concentration should be maximum - about 400 g per 10 liters of water. Such a solution can be used in cases where the invasion of the pest colony is too large and the first signs of plant damage are already visible.It is not worth increasing the concentration even more, since such a measure does not give a special effect.

When spraying indoor plants, the concentration must be reduced by 10-15 times by recalculating the amount of the drug, for example, by 0.5 or 1 liter of water. When spraying with the agent, you should first protect the surface of the soil with a waterproof material, for example, a plastic bag. Getting the solution onto the earthen ball and further into the root system of the flower is undesirable.

It is important to understand that only the green part of the plant is processed with the drug. Watering the roots with soap is not worth it, even in case of defeat. Also, do not add the agent to the "Kornevin" and other growth stimulants.

Application with other drugs

Green Soap can be used in conjunction with other insecticides and fungicides, for example, with the following preparations:

  • "Karbofos";
  • Inta-Vir;
  • "Spark";
  • "Decis";
  • "Baktofit".

In most cases, soap does not in any way weaken the effect of the main drug, but, on the contrary, enhances it. In addition, the soap base helps the solution adhere to the surface of the green part of the plant. Therefore, the mixture will not be washed off by rain or blown away by the wind. To obtain it, you can dilute the drug according to the instructions, and then add green soap (50-100 g per standard bucket of water - 10 liters).

However, Green Soap gives a slightly alkaline reaction. Accordingly, it is not worth using it with acidic preparations - the alkali will be neutralized with acid, and the effect of the agent will be weakened. Therefore, if the instructions for the insecticide indicate that it is not necessary to combine with drugs that give an alkaline reaction, it is impossible to use "Green Soap" in this case.

Security measures

The drug is completely safe for humans, warm-blooded animals, bees, fish and other organisms. Until now, not a single case of poisoning, allergic reaction, and even more lethal outcome has been recorded. This is explained by the fact that the soap has a natural composition - it is in many respects similar to the components of conventional detergents that are used everywhere.

Therefore, the treatment of plants can be carried out without any additional protective equipment. However, overalls, a mask, goggles and gloves can be worn if desired. Do not eat, talk or smoke while spraying, and keep children away from the area.

In case of unforeseen situations, it is necessary:

  • rinse skin with water;
  • rinse eyes with plenty of water for 3-5 minutes;
  • take a few tablets of activated charcoal inside (if soap gets into the stomach).

If the soap is used in combination with other products, it is necessary to act strictly according to the instructions for the main preparation. Processing should be done only in overalls, mask, gloves and glasses.

How to enhance the action of Green Soap?

The drug is considered a fairly effective agent, but it is used only for prevention or in the early stages of insect infestations. If the colony is too large or signs of damage have appeared for a long time, a more powerful insecticide should be used.

The action of Green Soap can be enhanced by adding other products. It is also advisable to spray in suitable weather conditions:

  • weak wind (or complete calm);
  • absence of rain and other precipitation on the day of processing and in the next 1-2 days;
  • spraying after sunset - in the absence of direct rays.

Storage conditions

The storage rules for the drug are also described in the instructions for use. The shelf life of Green Soap is 12-24 months. After this period, the product should not be used. Store it at a temperature of -10aboutFrom to +35aboutWith in a dark place, out of the reach of children and pets. The finished solution is obtained in such an amount that will be consumed completely at a time. Its storage for 1–2 days or more is not allowed.

Thus, "Green Soap" can be called a natural universal insecticide. It is good to use it for prevention and at the first signs of a pest invasion. In other cases, the drug is best mixed with more powerful agents.
